Relieve pregame stress:

Parents feel a huge amount of stress when their children compete-often more stress than the child. While transporting their kids to the game, some of that stress assuredly has been absorbed by your junior team members because kids are in tune with how their parents feel and are highly intuitive. Part of coaching a junior hockey team is dealing with this.

If you are like most of the athletes I train, you spent a punishing summer paying the price for the ice time you will enjoy this season. Now of course everyone is thinking, “Well, I know what I did all summer, but what should I do in-season to train for hockey?” In this series of Five Special Reports we are going to talk about training for mobility, stability, strength, stamina, and skills. So you can train efficiently to augment your performance on the ice, rather than training with the same type of volume and intensity that we did in the summer which could possibly detract from your performance on the ice.

Inline Skating Technique — The T-Stop

Advanced skaters sometimes prefer to use the T-stop as a quick way to slow down. However, excessive use of this means of stopping can prematurely wear out the inside edges and the profile of your wheels. If this isn’t a major concern for you, by all means use the T-stop when it’s to your advantage to do so. The T-stop is applied by forming a T-shape with your skates.
